Former president Bill Clinton has revealed a love of hip hop – and even sent out support to jailed rapper Lil Wayne.
“This guy's smart,” Clinton said, “and he's got ability,” when asked about him during an interview on US radio.
Wayne is to be released today following an eight-month prison sentence for weapons and drug charges, a month of which was spent in solitary confinement.
“You know, my daughter introduced me to rap and hip hop music after I said some things she thought were not very smart. She said, 'Dad, you need to listen, all these people are smart'.
“But what I hope will happen is that [Wayne] has a good life now. What I hope is that this is not just something to brand him as a cool guy, but that it'll never happen again.” [The Guardian]
